Sarah Champion MP writes to Transport Secretary in a bid to overturn cuts to paper timetables
Sarah Champion, Member of Parliament for Rotherham, has questioned the proposals by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive to scrap paper timetables for public transport. It was announced in December that cuts of around £7.6 million were to be made to various services, including the production of paper timetables.
Since then, a number of constituents have approached Sarah expressing their concern about the loss of the information. One point continually raised by those contacting Sarah's office was the impact that it would have on the elderly and the most vulnerable. The SYPTE have highlighted that timetables will still be available on the internet, however the misgivings are that many of those who rely on paper information do not have online access.
