Sarah Champion MP recognised in Women in Westminster: The 100
Sarah Champion MP has been recognised as one of the 100 most influential women in Westminster in a prestigious award announced today.
The House's annual celebration of the most inspirational and influential women in Westminster is back for a second year this International Women’s Day, celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of women in public life by recognising one hundred women who have achieved excellence in their sector in the world of Westminster.
Patrons include: Laura Kuenssberg, Baroness Jenkin of Kennington, Caroline Nokes MP, Rupert McNeil and Anne Alexander. They had the unenviable job of narrowing down a long list to one hundred, comprised of Parliamentarians, Civil Servants, Journalists, Public Affairs Specialists, Political Commentators and others.
Patron Baroness Jenkin says, “We have all faced a number of challenges in the past year due to Covid-19 and I am delighted by how so many women have stood up and been counted in these tough times.” “Woman still face a number of challenges, both inside and outside of Westminster, but we shouldn’t lose sight of the huge strides that we all continue to make, and the remarkable women that are both at the forefront of the country and those working tirelessly behind the scenes.”
Rosa says “The House is so proud to be able to highlight the talent of these 100 extraordinary women. Their hard work and influence has transformed a male-dominated Westminster in recent years, and while it is clear there is still work to be done, we can be confident these pioneers will not rest until our politics is truly equal.”
Sarah Champion MP said:
“I am extremely proud to be named alongside these incredibly strong women who do so much to raise the visibility of women and to tackle bias and inequality where they find it. I work to support the people of Rotherham and those without a voice around the world, it is gratifying to know that others recognise the importance of that.”
